Friday's Fright Film Fact
Universal’s
publicity department circulated a story claiming that Boris Karloff wore a 50
pound bulletproof vest and that real shots were fired at him by a marksman in the final scene of The
Raven (1935) to add realism. The shot allegedly knocked Karloff to the ground
and he suffered a large bruise caused by the bullet.
