This week in Fright Film History December 10 - 16, 2017










Paul Wegener, the German actor, writer and film director known for his pioneering role in German Horror cinema was born on December 11 1874. He is best none for  The Student of Prague (1913),The Golem (1915),The Golem and the Dancing Girl (1917) and The Golem: How He Came into the World (1920).













The Wolf Man(1941)  directed by George Waggner. The film starred Lon Chaney, Jr. as "The Wolf Man" and featured Claude Rains, Evelyn Ankers, Ralph Bellamy, Patric Knowles, and Béla Lugosi. The Wolf Man (1941) which was the second of the Universal Pictures werewolf movies, was released on December 12, 1941.  




The Devil Bat (1940) an American comedy/horror movie produced by Producers Releasing Corporation (PRC) and directed by Jean Yarbrough. The film stars Bela Lugosi, along with Suzanne Kaaren, Guy Usher, Yolande Mallott was released on December 13, 1940.





The Black Castle (1952) was produced by William Alland, who would later produce Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954). The film which featured horror heavy weights Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney Jr. in supporting roles was released on December 15, 1952 in Sweden.
