Ellen Burstyn received a permanent spinal injury during
filming of The Exorcist (1973). In a scene where she was thrown away from her
daughter Regan, a harness jerked so her violently from the bed that Burstyn
fell on her coccyx. When she screams out in pain in the movie, she was not
